What earns a tile — an entry must teach a distinct, reusable computational idea that no existing tile represents better. Applications of other tiles, broad fields, cosmetic variants, products, and unsourceable claims are rejected. Tile intensity reflects canonicality — brighter tiles are more central.
Maturity — classic: textbook-stable · modern: in current production systems · research: important but mostly theoretical · speculative: emerging, may not last. Research/speculative tiles glow with dashed borders, like synthetic elements.
Review status — all live cards are source-checked: each carries teaching structure and verified references. Basic and unchecked states remain in the data contract for future drafts, but this published atlas has no live draft cards.
Growth — coarse navigation buckets, not formal bounds; “linear” mixes O(n), O(V+E), and expected-time variants. Open a card for the real best/average/worst rows.
